we need a few of them tyers in out Nymph swap hahaha I have always been amazed at what some people can tie up. Rp

It's funny though, I read somewhere that realistic patterns really aren't all that effective and that the flies we use everyday will actually out fish them! I'm going to attempt to find the article.

not me...I am dabbling with a realistic golden stone...from what I can tell it is way too time consuming to tie these up...could you imagine spending 4 hours on a fly and then getting snagged!

Must be tough to catch those buggers - even one holding another bug :shocked: They're not really "tied" - you can dip the real things in shellac and put a hook through em - just like the shellaced bowl of fruit and bread at my grandmother's house. :laugh: :laugh: I can't believe he did that to a frog too! :wink: :smile:
Those are incredible! I remember reading an article not too long ago about an international tying competition and some guy from overseas was held up in customs because they didn't believe it was a fly - it looked so real, they stopped him for bringing insects into the country! I think it was in FlyTyers' magazine a couple years ago.
