Let's do it! What are some suggestions for dates and location? I would like to invite Rob Allen to come and share some tips.

I'm for it. Friday afternoons is about the only time I have available though. With enough advanced notice I can make it.
I could do a Friday afternoon thing....anyone else?

I'd be interested in seeing some casting demos. What side of town are you thinking of having it on? I promise, I'll be nice :angel:!

This sounds cool! Friday is good for me too. What about a location? The sandy, or maybe the Lewis? :shrug:
i'm a lone speyer in my circle of fishing friends, i'd like to see some other peoples casting techniques.

A small bio on me is followed. Vice President of Education for the Oregon Council. President and founder of the North Santiam Spey Caster club. A club that has 63 current members. I'm a FFF certified single- and Two-handed instructor.
I would be willing to assist in your Spey Rondi Casting Clinic if you would like some of my help. I could do demo's or a clinic or ??? My purpose is not to take over but rather assist in any way you would like
We need to decide on a date :bigshock: I'm thinking 11/19 what's the consensus?

I know who emailed you :grin: and he is one of the nicest men I have met. He has a ton of patience and is eager to get others involved in the two handed style of casting! He has to have the patience because he has helped me with my casting on a few occasions. Definitely have him come if at all possible! I can't say enough good things about him or the NSSC group. They helped me a ton while being my indecisive self in determining what rod to get. Several of them let me try out there set ups and gave me tips on my casting while doing it! The 19th would be great, however, it sounds like there may be a group camp out down on the crooked or potentially the Deschutes that weekend also - We could do it on the Deschutes! :idea: Just kidding.

A spey rondi would be awesome! I have tried it a couple of times, but am far from good at casting. What about the 26th of November if the 19th doesn't work? Has a location been decided yet?

We should pick a big open area, a lake or a large beach, I feel river left would be best. I have been casting on the Willamette, which could work. Clackamette park is ok. we have done some with westfly at Dodge, which is fine but river right. The spey clave spot in oxbow.

Sounds like getting a date to congeal is going to be the hardest part. I think this rondi is great idea, perhaps a weekend in December? It'll be cold and wet--perfect practice for winter steelhead. :grin:
So how about it?

Just a note- the north santiam spey casters are getting together sunday at walter worth park in salem at 2. Normally people cast for about 45 minutes, then we have a short informal talk (this week it will be about shooting line) and then people go out and cast a bit more. Real informal but some of the top instructors in the world may be there.
