I just bought a drift boat and it came with an early 90's Mercury 8 horse 2 stroke kicker. I didn't get the manual for the motor though. Does anybody know what the fuel mixture is? Also, anybody know how to flush out these motors after being in the bay? It doesnt look like the typical "ear muff" flushing devices will work. Thanks

If it is like mine, there is a special type of flusher that attaches above the intake. I think 50 to 1 is right, but I'm sure others will weigh in.

50:1 and the "ear muffs" will work. I'm guessing the water intake is just above the prop in the cavitation plate? You need to position the hose and prop just right and as long as the water intake is covered you'll be fine. At least that is what I did on the 98 I had.

You need a "Quicksilver Flushing Attachment"

Do a search in Google.

The kicker can run on a mix of 100 to 1, but I always run 50 to 1 and have no problems.

I just filled up a garbage can with fresh water and dunked mine running it in the driveway.(Propping the front end of the driftboat trailer up in the air. Seemed like the muff doohickies didn't get the water into the motor real well.
