Kicker height question

Buddy of mine purchased a nearly new 8 hp Yamaha 4 stroke kicker and trolling bracket from a guy that was selling his boat. We installed this package on his 22' Trophy. The bracket was mounted on the port side as low as we thought we dared to go and still be able to control the motor from the deck. The trolling bracket isn't adjustable, it is either up or down. He is concerned that once in a while out on the ocean, the lower unit of the kicker will come out of the water for a few seconds when the boat goes over a swell. I told him that my kicker does the same thing, and I haven't experienced any mechanical problems with mine, but he is really concerned about it. Anyone had this problem?

Mine will do this too in big enough waves, not sure what you can do about it. I don't think it's much of a concern unless you are running like this for prolonged periods. Generally when the water is this rough I am not sticking around anyway.
