I'm hiking to the lake tomorow and I thought I'd take my fly pole and try to catch a few fish.... I've heard that wooly buggers work... any other suggestions? I have a float tube that I'll be taking there....

P.S. Don't know exactly where the lake is... its somewhere along HWY 22 to Bend (I think its east of Stayton )
Thanks everyone

I used to fish Marion Lake a few years back, but my hiking days are pretty much over, unfortunately. Will leave it for you younger guys! We used to take some nice rainbows and a few brookies out of there, and they were in full color after fattening up all summer.
Take Marion Forks Rd. FS 2255 SE (Fish hatchery Rd.) from Hwy. 22 about 16 miles from Detroit. At the end of the road, follow Trail 3436 about 2 miles to the lake. You'll pass Ann Lake on the way.
Woolly Buggers should work fine. Good Luck!

For an easier location on your road, headed towards Bend turn left directly across from the Marion Forks restaurant, on the road just BEFORE you cross the creek.
At the trailhead, be sure that you don't leave anything of value in your car. That parking lot has a bad rep for car clouters.
Beautiful country, nice lake, with some good fish. Watch for the angling restriction near the outlet. I hope you have a great time.
