Howdy folks, I was hoping to get some help from you all. I am in the "EARLY" stages of planning a trip to Alaska with my dad, the first time we have done anything like this together. Should be a hoot.... I was hoping to get some info from anyone that could recommend a good guide for trout or salmon or grayling etc. Thinking of July or August time. Hiking or Driftboating is fine. The Guide I used with my wife six years ago appears to have retired. He was great supplied every thing accept the rod for a very good price. Even packed lunchin. I have lodging and all that just looking for a one or two day trip. Thanks

Well if you want an absolutly amazing trip with Silvers, Trout, Greyling, and even Kings on the fly take a look at Katmai Lodge on the Alagnak river. I guide there and its some of the best fishing you could ever immagine. Its a little pricey, but man is it great fishing. Katmai.com

Hands down if you want an outfitter go with Dave Duncan and sons the best operation in all of Alaska. The Chosen river is the best river in all of Alaska as well it has everything and more than you could imagine. Not overpriced like a lot of other lodges up there. I've worked for a few lodges and have fished all over AK and the Duncans will show you the trip of a lifetime. Look 'em up on the web and give them a call as they always are booked pretty solid.

I will second Dave Duncon's place in AK on the chosen river (Konecktock River) He uses a secret name for the river so no body starts to over crowd it  I went there with jim teeny cause my dad's co-owner knows him and boy that was the best trip of my life. This river far out produces it's nieghbor the Alagnak and has alot less people. I caught silvers, sea run bull trout, late kings, rainbows, chums, and normal bull trout. My flys were the anything that is a teeny nymph or a glo bug. I would also recommend bringing a spinning rod and some blue fox pixies in the chrome and pink verson because your arms are gonna egt real tired from fighting all those fish and fly casting all day  I also saw a 80lb+ king laying in a pool under my boat, while I was eating lunch  I also got completly spooled by a chrome 50lb king on a 7wt sage rod, but broke the fish of cause it was to big.

Great place to visit, but it does not have very good scenery because its in the tundra, and there are lots of big grizzly bears around to

I am a guide here in Washington and I have a friend who guides in Alaska out of Soldotna. He is a great guy and very good. I know he is very reasonalble and I could get you his info if interested. His name is Gary Conradi and he has a web site but I can't think of his new address right off hand.
