I hope I'm not up a creek....
I have a 70 horse evinrude and the lower of three plugs goes in a little [petunias!]-eyed. I'm sure its not riding on the right threads but it went in firm. I plan on running it tommorrow and seeing what happens. How easy/difficult is it to re-tap the plug threads in an aluminum head? Can you recomend a good shop to get it done? or tools to do it myself?

I had a 25 rude w helicoil in it, worked fine.

most O/B shops should be able to do this.

I would NOT run it till fixed

Heli coil is the way to go.You should be able to do it yourself though. Its a pretty easy job.You should be able to find them at any auto parts store.

Go to your local auto parts store and get a sparkplug thread chaser( ~$5.00). It's a common problem in Aluminum heads and most of time it can be fixed by just chasing the threads. If it does not work you can always heli-coil it.
