I went fishing yesterday, and caught some salmon and crab limits. That was fun.
It wasn't until just now, I found out another fish grabbed the LIFE line yesterday, with the hook set firmly in THE ROCK!!! My eyes are welling up now.
Please read this email that was just sent to me by my friend Scott, who just led his dying Grandpa to the Lord. My heart rejoiced!!!

WOW!!!
I got a call 20 minutes after I sent the original 'urgent' email. I thought he had a few weeks or so. I was informed that my grandfather (Boompa) was much worse and had only hours to live; one to two days at most. I called my wife and got her and our four children out of school. They came home and packed three days worth of clothes and we flew out the door. We live 3 hours to the south of my grandparents.
On the drive up I had plenty of time to pray and plead for Boompa's soul. I must say that I had hope, but I also had serious doubts. He was almost 80 years old and the only times that I know of that he was in a church was for a wedding or funeral and was adversarial to the gospel.
We arrived and within minutes, and after hugs and greetings with relatives I was approached by my Grandma Jo. She said: "Why don't you guys go in and have your piece and say your goodbyes. He may or may not understand. He's not opening his eyes but...sometimes responds." She wasn't very encouraging with the 'sometimes'. She also mentioned he would furrow his brow if he was upset about something so to be aware and alert. She's a protecting and loving wife.
Unbelievable!!!...God had prepared everything---Here was my opportunity to freely witness to Boompa!!!
All prayed up, we went in. I sat by his bed and shared with him a brief narrative of his life, so far as I knew, and brought it up to when I was born. I talked of many different memories and impressions I had of him, experiences and memories we had shared together and how much I loved him.
The only other time I tried to share Christ with my grandfather he told me; "Buddy, you and I have always gotten along well, but if you pull that on me, that's it"! That's it???!!! I was nervous to witness to him as his soul hung in the balance. He had to accept Jesus as Saviour now or he would be lost FOREVER.
I went through the plan of salvation according to God's infallible word. Very plainly and simply, I told him of the universality of sin, and the price of sin...eternal judgment. Of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross because of His immeasurable love for us. The gift of eternal life to all who will receive it. Finally, plainly, I told him of how he could get saved and go to heaven.
I asked him if he would accept Jesus as his Saviour. Boompa was going to decide for himself...no one could tell him to do anything unless it was ok by him. I had no furrowed brows to this point.
"Will you accept Jesus as your Saviour right now and save you and have Him forgive you of your sins"? "Squeeze my hand if you will" I'm praying like crazy right now along with Isaac, my son, and Beverly, my wife. No response so I ask him again...no response. No furrowed brow.
"If you know what I'm talking about, squeeze my hand". He did. Praying and pleading to God, I ask Boompa the question one last time, "Do you want to be saved by Jesus, have your sins forgiven and accept him as your Saviour?".
Boompa squeezed my hand! (I was sitting on the left side of his bed holding his hand) Isaac said Boompa's right hand was, at that moment, grasping and seeking a hand to squeeze. Beverly, whose head was bowed in prayer, had not seen any of this but, looked up immediately with a huge smile because she knew in her heart and spirit the very moment that Boompa had gotten saved!!!
I asked him to squeeze my hand a second time and finally a third time just to make sure he understood completely. Again, no furrowed brow.
We cried tears of joy. Isaac had never done that before. He had always asked the age old question to parents from their children, 'Why do you cry if you are happy'? He had just grown up a little bit.
I said' "Boompa, I'll see you later, because it's never goodby for a Christian!".
Boompa was able to respond with a squeeze of his hand, on occasion, to loved ones for about three more hours; However, his brow never furrowed again. How could it? He was on his way to heaven!!!
Boompa, Delbert Melvin Smith, died peacefully at home 16 hours later with his daughter and loving wife at his side at 6:15 am on Wednesday, October 5, 2005.
I want to thank all of you who prayed for me and responded so lovingly. Words cannot express my gratitude for your kindness and compassion. Most of all though, thank you for the prayers as you were able to play a part in the salvation of an eternal soul to the glory of God!!! (Psalms 116:15) I needed that extra strenghth that can only come when God's saints intercede on behalf of another in prayer to God Almighty.

Dear friends and loved ones,
My grandfather (Del), who I call Boompa, is terminally ill and recieving hospice. His heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver are failing. He has emphisema and is battling pneumonia. The attached email from my grandmother (Grandma Jo) says he has 30 days or less to live.
He is unsaved.
I desparately need your prayers. I am in a spiritual battle and in the midst of prayer and fasting. Please pray for me as I seek God's direction for witnessing in this urgent, but delicate situation. Pray for Boompa to get saved and for Grandma Jo to allow me to witness. Pray that satan's demons would be defeated by God's angels. Pray that I would say exactly what God wants me to say for His glory.
The only other time I witnessed to Boompa, he was not receptive at all.
We all have eternity awaiting us with a destination of heaven or hell. The Bible is so very clear about how to get to heaven..."Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" [John 3:3]
"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" [John 3:17-18]
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me". [John 14:6]
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" [Romans 10:13]
Thank you for your prayers,
Scott

Del's condition worsens by the hour. Advised today that 30 days would be the most to expect.
