I had a fair day on a local river today. Caught two very bright coho, both female hatchery fish.

First fish was only 25 inches; she took a purple shrimp, same fly tied by CWH for the Coho fly exchange.

Second Coho was 30 ½ inches; she took a Flame Orange Egg pattern.
Frankenfish was with me. We tried very hard to get him a Coho today, but he had to be satisfied with a half pounder steelhead.

I saw it with my own eyes. Both times my fish grabbed Andy's fly. Go figure.

Beautiful fish Andy. Hope to get of that tonight. Might head down to your neck of the woods this weekend. Like the chromage.

Should have had a couple entrants for the coho comp today but the wife to the camera to New Mexico and I didn't want to bonk a buck I wouldn't eat. Got one female that matched Andy's 30.5 inches and a buck that was at least 16 probably pushing 17 lbs. He was a little darker than I like though. The hen was bursting with eggs and cut pretty nice considering how mature the eggs were. You know the place Andy and I was ALL BY MYSELF. Went 3 for 9 in 2 hours.

Instead of starting a new string, I thought I would post my latest catch here.
I hooked and landed three Coho today (Tuesday): two adults and a jack.
First fish was a 28 ½ female hatchery fish.

She took a variant of Steelymann's Black Widow.
Second fish was a 34 ½ male hatchery fish. I released him since I had already tagged the first fish (I don't need that much fish!). He took a Purple Angel fished on a greased line presentation (combination of drift and swing). Fly was unweighted.

Last fish (the jack) also took the Black Widow variant.

That second fish is a football, its just about as much around as it is long. I would have loved to catch that thing

Nice fish NAdy. Glad to see that fly work.
Awesome Fish guys! Keep the pics coming. I still haven't gotten out after Coho. Too busy getting ready for my elk hunt.

Well, it was Coho Wednesday again (this time 12 Oct).
Lunkerfish landed a 28 inch native fish.

I also landed a few Coho, but none big enough for the Coho competiton.
We left Frankenfish on the river. We'll let him report what he caught.

Great looking fish - 34" will be tough to beat!
Thanks for the PM's w/ tips Andy.
I will post how I do tomorrow.
That "greased line" presentation - I did try that with the same fly on Sunday (10/9), but just managed to find the line left behind in the river from the day before. Unfortunately, that line was stronger than my tippet - by, by purple angel. I will need to tie up a few.
Glad I cleaned up the hole for you !
