From my trip last Saturday I do have a question regarding what I possibly was doing wrong in setting the hook?

Each of the 6 fish that I didn't bring to hand, all hit my Reverse Spider, made a decent run or two and when I thought everything was fine, my line goes limp and they are gone?

Thoughts???

In my experience with SRC they usually don't give you much of a chance to set the hook.
I had two on last night that "slipped" the hook which is pretty common when using barbless.

So I shouldn't feel so bad?

I guess I'll just have to go out and give it another try this Saturday.

BTW Stew, I tried to go to the Trask by the Blimp Hanger but I think I turned too soon.

Do you go past the Jet and then follow the signs?

I think some times if the fish is just hooked in the skin, as opposed to around the jaw bone, the hook will eventually rip free. I've landed steelhead that were one more good run away from this happening, and I've had many come off in the same manner you describe.

On the other hand, I've had fish run and jump multiple times and thought I'd never have a chance of getting them to hand, but they miraculously stay hooked. Usually I find these fish are hooked in the corner of the mouth with the hook going around the jaw bone and it can be tough to get the hook out by hand, even barbless.

Coming from Tillamook you turn left from 101 at the jet then look for the boat ramp sign and turn left again on the gravel road.

That happened to me last weekend on two fish in a run, i hooked the first and it came off so i quickly whipped it back in and bam another and the same so i flipped in my line to check my lead for abrasion and found that the very tip of my hook had broken off...i dont think is what happened to you however, when i jig fish for trout i have had a similar thing happen and found that the fish were hitting the tail and I was hooking them (similar to what mugs said) right in the skin above or on the nose of the fish and it was just pulling free...
