If you happened to know there was one or more very big LM in a smallish/shallow/weedy pond what kind of pattern would you use to target that big fish this time of year? Hypothetically speaking of course.

I have heard that frog or mouse patterns work good for big fish in smallish ponds- being sneeky is probably most important.

Buzz baits in the morning, plastics in the afternoon and a moss frog or similar in the evening. Twitching a large stick bait in open pockets of water surrounded by weeds can also be deadly in small ponds. I just fished a small farm pond (about 2 acres) 2 weeks ago and caught 23 LM Bass. All but three fell to a War Eagle buzz bait Blk/Purple. Largest fish was 20"/4lbs. Lost another that looked to be about the same. Most were 13"-14." A great day on the water. Some of my best bass fishing has been on small farm ponds.

We have had some luck under these conditions with a Zoom Horny toad fished weightless like a top water. There is a couple of farm ponds near my home that have some nice ones in it but you only get one shot. You sneak up and its all or nothing. One of these ponds is the place I actually saw a bass eat a duckling some time ago. This pond is maybe 1 acre.
