I have been catching quite a few fish lately but I was wondering about how the fishing gets as the waters start to cool down again. I was at Vernonia the other night and the water there is really getting cold and fast. DOes anyone have sugguestions on how to fish when the water starts cooling off. I am planning on going out to hagg soon and I want to know what this weather will do to the fish and where they might be located. Thanks for all the wonderful help and I will keep sending reports.

I know we have had great success through October on some lakes near Eugene throwing topwater late in the evening. The fish are hungry.

Fall's cooling water will start the fish feeding up for Winter, so they're tending to be active. That suggests horizontal presentations, like cranks, jerkbaits, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits. Cover water, & pick up active fish. If this doesn't work, or you only catch small fish, try a Whacky rigged Senko. As usual, try various retreives with all baits. If the fish read the book, they should prefer quicker retreives, but don't count on that very much. C&R, Steve
