Got no reports yet, but saw a bunch of small smallies in Willamina pond yesterday while eating lunch there. Also saw a guy with a pretty nice bluegill. Biggest smallie looked to be maybe 10 inches, but there`s gotta be some larger ones in there! Pond is nearly solid moss so probably difficult to fish except with top water gear. Not experienced enough with this sorta situation to know what to use. Ff

Is there any way to keep a log of past monthes? It could make for a good tool next year...

It doesn't appear like the smallies have put on the feed sacks yet in the upper Willy. Caught quite a few smallies on Friday up to 19 inches but their bellies weren't really round like they will be when the water starts cooling. Caught fish at all depths but deeper as sun came up and skiers came out. Off the water about 1:00 so as not to develop a bad attitude about other boaters. Would rather be fishin upper columbia....Fished Tri-Cities last weekend and there were no skiers and not a bad bite either.

Took my son out to Hagg today and had a really fun day. We fished from the bank in a couple different spots and I had my hands full just dealing with his perch. I did some dropshotting with 3 inch senkos and picked up 6 smallish bass over a couple hours. I'm a novice to bass so it was fun using that technique and actually getting some results even if they weren't that big. I missed quite a few hookups as I'm still trying to get the hang of the dropshot.

Hagg Sept 2:

Was a GREAT DAY.. Over the last 2 days ive spent 23 hours on the water.. well worth the sun burn for the two reports I have had. ExBassGuide and I hit the water early, gates were open and it was beautiful. Boat ramp A produced 30 bass in 35 minutes, not all small, but there were of course some dinks in there. I believe 4-5 were of 12in size. Well we took off from boat ramp A to go fish out of boat ramp C. We hit just about every spot the two of us knew in the immediate area (including the FISHING PIER and the actual dock!) producing MANY fish. I am not going to boast that we caught 400 fish cause we lost track around 250 and that was hours before we stopped fishing. Both creek arms were GREAT if you can get in there and structure is present FISH IT. For some reason, the 'do nuthin' banks that are usually bare produced alot of fish. Here are some pics from the day. They arent the biggest we caught but the ones we took time to take pics of.

Sept 3rd: fished lower willy. Crankbaits are the key, caught lots of fish, many in schools, 3 or 4 fish at a time. Fish weren't all that deep, 5-20ft. Many had crawdad parts coming out of their mouth's. Caught several fish over 12".

Went fishing yesterday with Fishfeet. What a great day on the water. It was not too hot and not to cool. The water was like glass much of the day because it was so calm. We fished the Multnomah Channel where we did not have to combat pleasure boaters wakes. It was one of the better days to be fishing.

Here is a picture of one of the many smallmouth bass we caught.

Went fishing on the 3rd of September and the first fish of the day I broke off a nice one on a spinnerbait. I must of still been sleeping when I tied it on.
Here are a few of the bass we caught on spinnerbaits and jigs. We got on one spot and caught 8 in a row between 3 and 5 lbs. We left the spot and came back and got 3 more.
It was a great day on the water with not another boat in sight. Here is Rob with a nice one.

This one feel for a jig and was one of about a dozen good sized bass for the day. We lost count of the number of 2 to 3 lbs fish that were caught in this pond. You have got to love fishing small ponds.

Fished the lower willy monday PM and tuesday AM I had just picked up a pack of senco worms and boy do they work. On monday on my first cast I just feel a slight twitch as the senco is sinking so I slowly reel up the slack and strike! What I get is a reel screaming run and several jumps from a smallie that was big enough to brake my 6lb test line (which it did promptly of course) :noway: :noway:  :bigshock: Must have had a nick in the line. I then retied and caught five more fish in two hours (the biggest was right around 17 inches and way fat around.)

Tuesday was not so great I only landed one fish although I did fight 5 or 6 right up to shore only to lose them.

School starts today and hockey this weekend so I probably wont be fishing for a while.

Spent 3 hours at Commonwealth Lake this evening. C&R 12/10/9 inchers and 3 smaller. Lots of weeds and ducks getting in the way not to mention 1 black lab that jumped into one of our spots while we fished. Maybe mornings would be better crowd wise.

Fished Green Peter today from 9am-6pm. I caught several LM and SM, only 5 over 13". It was a good day. I mostly fished 3" senkos. This and two other keepers were caught on Renegade 4" curly tail worm, texas rigged in 35' of water. The water was CLEAR. I could see the bottom at 20' (according to my fish finder). One of the larger fish swallowed my worm and for some reason it was bleeding pretty bad so I took it home. I was shocked to find not one but two tube baits in its stomach! :bigshock: I may start using tube baits again. I am obviously not the only guy who fishes bass at Green Peter.... and you would think the fish would learn.

Here is one of the fish I caught. The background is a piling of the bridge over the middle fork.

I've been wondering about how plastics baits effect bass that manage to swallow them. Are they able to digest them eventually? Anyone know? Considering the number of senkos I've lost lately I'd hate to think I'm harming that number of bass.

The bass in the picture was the bass that was bleeding. (You can see it.) You can also see that he looks pretty healthy. The hooks were in very good shape but the tubes looked old. They say hooks disolve after a while, but how long is that?

Bass can pass plastics and hooks long before they dissolve. I know this because I once caught a bass that had a hook which was partially passed from its alimentry canal. Also while keeping a bass once in my live well, I later found a soft pastic that it had regurgated or passed while it had been in the live well.

I went out to Vernonia Pond last night and caught several nice bass off of a white buzz bait. I also caught 2 on a black senko. The fish averaged about 2.5 pounds a piece. They were alot of fun and my girlfriend managed to catch her first bass using lures not a worm.

Thanks for the report BW. I'm headed out to Vernonia for a company picnic today so will be stopping by the pond for an hour or so. Hopefully I can pickup one of the 2.5 pounders too!

Hit the lower Willy this morning and did pretty well. Half a dozen or so bass between 2 and 3 lbs with a 3lb largemouth the biggest. Lost count on bass under 2 lbs and I didn't really catch that many dinks except when I tried the 3" senko. Wordens crank in crawfish pattern was the hot bait. :smash: Weather kept the pleasure boaters off and only seen one other boat fishing out there. Bite died off about 2pm and the sound of thunder made me give it up about 3.

I spent a good portion of the day in the rain at a church picnic beside a private pond. Got to fish about 3 hours. Caught 30 fish, mostly dinks. One very nice 5# LM at the intake creek. The current took it under a log where mama was waiting for my 3" senko. :smash:

Had to go to Harrisburg today (from Albany) so decided to wet a line in a few places on the way back. I fished Bond Butte Pond, Spoon Creek, Freeway Lakes, Lake Creek, and the Calapooya R two different places. The water was low everywhere and I was on foot so could not get to the holes but I caught one LM and several SM, all dinks. It's always fun catching fish.

Went fishing at Hagg Lake on Saturday 9/17. Caught several bass throughout the day. Most of them were largemouth. The bass were out on main points and secondary points or in creek beds where there was structure nearby. We used soft plastics, crank baits and spinner baits. We fished for bass only but managed to catch several perch too. The perch took our soft plastic worms almost as readily as the bass did. The water temps are cooling and the fishing should be picking up soon. We did not catch any really large ones and assumed that the big boys had fed during the evening before under bright moon skies.

Went fishng on the upper Willamette Sunday 9/18. We fished the afternoon hours only. The fishing was not red hot but the three of us all caught some nice smallmouth. Here is a picture of one of striper clubs' nicer catches.

I caught a really nice bass on tuesday out at Cape Mears Lake. It was 20 inches long and measured 25 inchest around the belly. It took my little 4" green senko. It was a great fight. I threw him back and I am hoping to catch another big one out there on Saturday

Fished Hagg from the bank Saturday. Started out about 1:30 pm fishing Sain creek area but not enough perch action to keep the family happy. Moved to the dam and caught 4 small bass in about an hour. Moved to point uplake from boat ramp A. Fast perch action for the family there and I caught 8 bass in about 2 hours fishing senko on muddy/clear water line. All bass in 9-12 inch range. Need to figure out how to entice a bigger one.
