Great trip down the river last Sunday. After a season of fly fishing for trout and summers we decided to have a fun day on the James Wood to Osprey drift of the Umpqua. The idea was to make it as difficult as smallmouth fishing this time of year could be. I challenged myself to fishing with an ice-fishing rod. My buddy Nick (a FF guide from Alaska) fished his first ever Zebko. The others were originally from southern California, so we considered them limited enough.
Our guide looks down on this fish as the dog points it out.

I landed fish after fish just floating around with a white crappie jig on the bottom. Winger again helps out by pointing.

Winger points another bass.

And a mid August shad on the trust Zebko.

As you might expect - fish everywhere and on almost every cast. Not too many of any size. Saw bear, turtles, deer, otters and lots of other wildlife. In addition to the shad and smallies caught a trout, a few catfish and some pumpkinseed. Hardware, bait, soft plastics - everything we threw at them caught fish.
