I went out today just to look around and do a little fishin at the old gravel pit pond. We usually fish this in the early spring and do very well I've had 40+ fish days there. But today i couldn't figure out where to catch em. About 2 months ago i quit fishin out there because the weeds were making it pretty much impossible it seemed. But now it seems the weeds have gone away. I was thinking maybe late evening buzzbaits will do good,i guess i'll try that next time i hit it up in the evening. But do you guys know where the fish could possibly be staging and how to catch them. I know the pond is only about 12- 16 ft max depth in the middle with lots of humps and the rest of the lake varies. One more question... i know bass start to move shallow again towards the fall, when exactly does that start late sept..?? october?

Bass move on shore to feed at night. If you get out EARLY you can still find them shallow. Also look for shade. shade from a dock or log or a tree on the shore. The after sundown bite is ok but the morning bite is normally better. This is do to the fact that bass have ALL night to move to shallow locations. But in the late after noon the bass will move from deep water or heavy cover. They do not have as much time to get too far. So in the late afternoon fish near thick cover (not in it as much as on the edge or on nearby objects like points logs bush…)
I hope this will help!
