I took my middle daughter down to camp at Lake Selmac last weekend. It was in the middle nineties everyday :redface:so we fished early and late and we went up to the Oregon Caves in the heat of the day.
We set up our tent-trailer at the Lake Selmac Resort and enjoyed their minature golf course, air-conditioned store and the use of their dock for my Portabote.
The first night we fished from 7:30 to 9:30 and all we got were three blowups on a buzzbait and no fish to the boat. The next morning I started fishing at 5:30 am and finally found some fish on a crawdad hotlips in 20 feet of water. I kept hooking good fish and as soon as they got to the surface they came unplugged. I landed several small bass, but the bigger fish all came off...
When we went out later that night, we finally got one to the boat and to our surprise it was a BIG crappie :bigshock:. Once that was figured out we took it easy on thier soft mouths and caught a dozen+ nice crappie on a bass plug.
The last morning we picked up where we left off. However, our crappiefest was interrupted by a fat 5.2# Largemouth. That made the trip complete.
I'll post a couple of picture later. All in all a good trip except for the heat.
