Fished the Umpqua last Friday just south / east of Elkton. We had two drift boats and did not see any other boats! We caught 60 to 80 smallmouth each. Worms caught more fish than plastic worms & grubs but the fish were also much smaller. We were told that around Elkton the ramps were way above the water and boats had to be dragged upon rocks to get to the ramps. I enjoyed 4" pumkin Senko rigged wacky and salt & pepper grubs on 1/8th oz jigs. Weather was great at about 85 degrees.

Thanks, we are heading there Saturday. There are some big bass in there that won't seem to bite. I've got some secret weapons for them. I'll let you know how they work!

We put in at Yellow Creek on the Umpqua and had a beautiful day on the water. We caught about a dozen or so over around 1lb but could not get the big boys to bite anything. We tried power bait, worms, grubs and some small bottom fish flies that were my secret weapon. They wouldn't tough them. We landed around 45-50 in a quick float.

Hey Mike N.
We caught alot of fish on a fly rod. We were dragging a popper with rubber legs behind our boat in the shallow sections where there was some current.

Thanks for the info Best Fishes,

Very Cool!! We often thought about useing a fly rod to get after them but haven't done it yet. We caught most of our fish in the faster moving water also.

I bet they fight well on those fly rods!!
