I just came across this recipe and thought it might come in handy for someone with a stinky pet: mix together 1 qt of 3% hydrogen peroxide, ¼ cup baking soda and 1 teaspoon liquid soap. Rinse with water after treatment. The article I read states that skunk spray is mostly low molecular weight thiols. The alkaline hydrogen peroxide works well to destroy excess thiols in dilute water solutions.

Saw that on Myth Busters the other nite...The next best stink remover was tomato juice.

We get sprayed two or three times a year :bigshock: We can hear the skunks fighting under the house and then they spray. My kids have been sent home from school more than once for smelling like skunk. We now have a ozone machine than removes the odor in a few hours.

I'm sold on that recipe. It really, really works!! It works on the same principal as Keta's ozone (o3) machine. The oxygen (o2) that is released from the reaction between the hydrogen peroxide and the baking soda reacts with the thiols in the skunk spray and neutralizes them.
We've had a couple of run-ins out where we live and one application of the concoction and the stank is GONE.

I had a dog that had a thing for bugging skunks and my smell remover was cedar oil . that I spray in the closet to keep the moths out . it worked good on the dog . remember to wear latex gloves .

This recipe definately works... My dog has been sprayed 4 times in the last six months. Usually takes 2 washes but works.
