I am not real excited about this coming week. I get to undergo a couple of medical procedures.
I have had ulcerative colitis for a number of years. I have been having a flare up since May that has not responded to the prednisone and other medications, so I get to have a colonoscopy on Tuesday. Oh Boy.
Then, if that is not enough fun for one person to have in a week, I have surgery scheduled on Friday for melanoma. This is the second melanoma I will have had removed this year. It is right above the ankle and they don't think they will be able to close it without taking a graph from my thigh.
I am not really worried about the procedures. I have had a colonoscopy before and had a previous surgery for melanoma on my face 4 months ago. Neither is that bad. I just get apprehensive about the unknown. What will they find? Will the biopsies/pathology all come back ok? My sister was diagnosed with colon cancer two weeks ago so that doesn't help.
I am just praying that everything comes back ok and that they find out what wrong with the colon so that it can be treated. I would really like life can get back to normal.
This has been a tough year and I have been so lucky to have our Lord to help me get through it.

You have my prayers for the Lord's strength and love to help you through this difficult ordeal :angel1:
I want you to know that I fully understand the trials that you're going through, brshooter.
I've been fighting kidney and liver disease for a while now,
and the heavy medication I have to take, cause's anemia.
Without God's help I'd never be able to motivate myself to get out of bed and go to work and function every day.
God's love and your faith will help you through this. :flowered:
Does not sound like fun to me, The unknown can make a person very aprehensive, :help: I will be praying for you .

BR, just to calm you a bit, those colonoscopy procedures USED to be nasty.
Now, they give you enough medicine to be so silly throughout the whole thing, that it's not that bad.
The day before, however, is not fun at all. Just make sure to buy yourself some assorted popsicles and a variety of jellos. (If they indeed allow that.) The different flavors are a huge relief. Buy a couple different gatorades, too.
Man oh man... No day is a good day for a doctor's procedure, and no week is good for two of them!
My prayers for patience are with you.
This too shall pass. I mean... er... uh...

Phase one is complete. No polyps to deal with. Colitis is pretty much confined to the lower section of the colon. Going to change some of my medications around to see if they can get it under control. Overall it is pretty good news.
Thanks to my neighbor "Rubber Hooks" for getting me to and from my appointment. And a big thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes.
Now it is time to get psyched for Friday's melanoma surgery. It will be nice to get past that as well.
Haven't had anything solid since Sunday so I think it is time to eat. Thanks again to everyone and God Bless.

Part 2 today. Melanoma surgery on my leg. They are planning on taking a full thickness graft from my thigh to close the area down by my ankle. I'll have two sore spots. Not really worried about the surgery. Sure there is always some apprehension, but I know the melanoma was caught early and the removal should be the end of it. The staff at St. Vincents is really good. They take good care of you and know how to handle the big whimps like me.
I sure miss my morning coffee though. No food or drink today until after surgery. I'm already hungry and thirsty.
Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes.

I survived. Friday's surgery went well. Melanoma is gone and not much discomfort. I am very glad that week is over. I have had enough medical this year to last quite a while.
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.
