I take the new boat to the ramp, starts runs, then dies 20 ft from the ramp...wont restart.
The motor is so flooded that gas is coming down from the carbs leaking into the bottom of the boat...I call the boat manufacturer they say give it a rest because its flooded and try it in a while...

An hour later starts up, blows copious smoke (due to break in x-tra oil and flooded) clears up and I run the engine for an hour no problems. I am coming into the ramp when I loose power and it dies. Wont start so I pull the motor box and fuel is again leaking into the bottom of the boat thru the carburator...came in on the kicker...

what is going on with this? stuck float?? any SJ owners ever had something like this? thanks, I am on vacation and this isnt how I planned it!

Had something very similar.

The issue in my case was a small piece of debris had fouled the carb float jet. It was very small, but just enough to keep the gate open for fuel to flow freely out.

Good luck.

If gas is pooring out, it sure sounds like a stuck carbuerator float.

New motor? I would take it back to the dealer ASAP! THey should bend over backwards to get it fixed.

the dealer is a 16 hour round trip, so I took it in to a local shop and they took care of my warrenty work and were glad to do it.

Yes, stuck float, the shop called me 3 hours after I dropped it off letting me know she was ready, Now thats service!
