I wanted to throw this out there because something happened this weekend that made me very angry.
Now, I'm still pretty new to Fly Fishing but I think I have a pretty good grasp on how to treat our worthy trout quarry, especailly on C&R waters.
Yesterday/Saturday, while I was with my family on the Met, I witnessed a fly fisherman with his girlfriend/wife in the Blue Hole. After several casts, he finally catches a small, very bright trout, maybe 8"-10". His girlfriend/wife was armed with a camera and after landing Nemo, this guy proceeds to take the fish out of the water, cupped in both hands, ran towards where this woman was standing, fish flopping around in his hands, so that she can take a picture.
Well, of course, the worst possibel scenario happens. This beautiful little fish gets loose, on the trail, coats himself in dust and then is picked up and thrown, and I mean big air, back into the stream.:bigshock:
I stood on the other side of the river, luckily for him, with steam coming out of my ears, shaking my head and saying to him, WHAT THE _____ ARE YOU THINKING??? (mod note: refer to the AUP for guidance on swearing on Ifish...Giz, the moderator)
He just looks, smiles and shrugs his shoulders.:argue:
Please, please, please. Don't be a fishing Putz. If you must get a picture, keep the fish in the water and get it back where it belongs so that others can benefit from its survival.:help:
I don't know if the little guy he caught made it but it didn't look good, from where I stood. :hoboy:
