My tired old East Lake story is about catching more fish in the shallows, so you should not be handicapped by banking it.

BD9321:
Bring your float tube and fish the north east corner of the lake by the Cinder Hill campground. You can also fish along the east shoreline to the East Lake Resort. You will find some submerged giant rocks about 500 feet towards the resort from the Cinder Hill CG boat ramp about 100 feet off shore.
I watched fish hitting all around in that area one morning of course I didn't l have the right bug.
Callebaetis drys in the last hours of the day worked pretty well for me.

I was just there last week. The callibaetis hatch was good from about 930am to 12 most days. Size 14 comparaduns and 16 cripples were effective. Late evening Brown fishing was excellent on black and purple seal buggers with fast retrieves on Intermediate and type IIs. If you're an early morning guy, fish callibaetis nymphs and emergers with a hand twist or 4" pull & pause. Let 'em sink a little before starting the retrieve. Give em' hell.
