I have often wondered if the standard bronze hook color might give off an un-natural reflection in the water. Has anyone experimented with different hook colors? Specifically, I'm considering tying a bunch of nymphs on dull-finish black hooks - similar to a Teeny Nymph hook. Thoughts?

I have done just the opposite with some steelhead and salmon patterns: I have used colored hooks (Red, green, purple, etc.) for some of the patterns. They work, especially for winter run fish. I like green hooks (Gamakatsu) for my Green Butt Skunks, both summer and winter.

I like to use bronz or colored hookes as well but haven't noticed a big diffrence other than I do up a glue egg for steelhead and have done this on a bronze egg hook and nickel egg hook. I have had great luck on the nicket hook and have yet to hook a fish on the bronze. I try to think of water color and what I'm tying to match the hook I want to tie on. I don't know if there is a bod diffrence but that's my 2 cents.
