I'm looking to put trim tabs on my 17 Arima and have mixed emotions about which on to install.
I have heard some of the bennet trim tabs are blowing cyclinders, and was wondering if any one has had or heard of this problem,
Has any one heard of any issues with the electric Lenco tabs having problems.
I really would love to clear this up so I can get tabs on my boat.

I have Bennet tabs on my boat for 8 years no problem.
I haven't heard of the problem. I've had Bennet's for 3 years with no issues. Also, from what I understand, Bennet Customer Service is very good.

The Bennett's will outlast the Lenco's hands down!!! You won't find better customer service in ANY company that you ever deal with. Go to this website for an example:

I know several folks who have Lencos on the C-Dorys (including me), and every one is unhappy with them. I had Bennett M120 Sport Tabs on my last C-Dory, so have tried them both. The biggest functional difference between the two is length of stroke. The Lencos don't have enough, and that is a big problem. The Bennetts actually had more stroke than needed, but you don't have to use it all. Based in big part on the feedback from our owner's group, C-Dory Inc. now installs Bennett hydraulics as a factory option rather than Lencos.
This is not meant as Lenco bashing. They are a good, well made product. But on the C-Dory hull, which is not all that far from the Arima hull, they just don't do the job.

The reason I'm asking is after talking to Arima they quit installing the bennets on thier arimas because the were getting to many blown cylinder returned.
Yep arima and C dory are right next to each other Only differnce in boats really is Arimas move at higher speeds so maybe the speed might be causing the problem and heavier loads in the back end.
I Know Bennet service is outstanding from all the reports i have heard but just needed to clear my mind befor putting out $500
Thanks for all your help hope to see you all on the water

About 15 months ago I put Bennetts on my 17 Arima Sea Ranger. Incredible difference in handling, and no problems. You might go to the Arima Owners site and post to see if others there have a different spin, but I don't recall hearing of problems. Also "Tabman" is always lurking around ready to help. Larry

Don't waste your time just go with Bennetts. You'll never look back and you will be satisfied. They have customer service second to none, are innovative and have great products. That new trim tab indicator switch that Bennett came out with is certainly something I'm looking into.

Do yourself a favor and check out Trim Master trim tabs.
A google search will get you there; or just type it in as one word dot net.
They carry a LIFETIME warrenty not the five year that Bennet does.
Check out the comparrison page on their site.
Also Powerboats magazine rated them #1 in 2001.
Their service is excellent. See my recent post as proof.

All this and the best price too.
They are running a special right now you will see at the top right of the home page.
$411.00 for a complete set of 12X9 tabs.
I'm loving mine!!!
I don't know about the Trim Master that Fishplay is referring to, but Bennets are industry standard.
Not saying that someone isn't telling you the truth, but the easiest way to justify selling or installing OEM one product over another is "we had problems with "THOSE" and now we use "THESE".
How often is a sales guy going to say; "well, quite honestly in an effort to keep costs down, and margin up, we sell a product that we can charge the same for but buy cheaper."
I had a very established marine electronics dealer here in Portland tell me they stopped selling Navman Flow meters because none of them worked right. Hmmmm....??? See how many complaints you can find on the Salty Dog board about Navman. My Navman has worked like a champ as well.
Every product has a problem now and then, but Bennet has the lions share of the trim tab market for a reason. They work well, they stand behind their product, and they work well.
So, I have no basis for an opinion on the Lencos, but huge amounts of Bennets failing? If they did have a manuf. problem, Bennet would step up and have it resolved immediately.

Check FMS's price on the Bennets. A couple of years ago I looked all over the internet for a good deal and found FMS had everybody beat. If you're not in a hurry you can wait to grab one of their coupons for $50 off purchases over $200 (when & if they put them out). That coupon pushed me over the teetering trim tab edge a few years ago, I walked out of there with a big grin and a set of M120's for about $330.
When I put tabs on the Striper I only considered using Bennets but after seeing how well Trim Master treated Fishplay I might consider their product in the future, time will tell. i did like the controls on the Trim Master better than the ones on my Bennets.

One factor to consider is where they will mount on the boat, and whether your kicker motor will clear them. I am totally happy with the Bennetts I installed, but prior to installation I made a couple of cardboard mock-ups and discovered that I'd have to move my fishfinder and mount where the fishfinder was, because where I wanted to mount trim tabs would interfere with my kicker. I have had the same Bennett tabs on my boat for over 15 years. Never have had one problem with them.
15 YEARS  I think I must need a new boat.

My Bennet trim tabs are 15 years old also, and they work far better than I do.

Also look at a product called Boat Leveler. I put these on mine and they have been very good. Try Boatfix.com for really good prices!

P.S. They have a full Bennett line there.
