I was real excited about the 05 easy loader trailers. Led lights and the oil bath hubs seemed great. I was so excited about the lights cause I had always had problems in the past with burnt out bulbs.
I have had this trailer for about 9 months, I never back her into the water with the lights hooked up even thought they say you "can". Last Saturday I noticed that 3 out of the 8 lights on the right hand side are not working :hoboy: Are these things just individual lights that just pop in and out? I don't really want to break open the lens cover until I know what I'm dealing with.... Thanks.
First check for loose connections. Wiggle the wires when the lights are on to see if they blink. If so it would indicate a loose connection.
If it isn't a loose connection then I believe you will have to replace the entire lamp. It sometimes is a bad ground connection. You can check that also. Specially if there is only one wire and it depends on the trailer chasis for it's ground connection.
Good Luck;

I installed these about three months after I bought my new boat/trailer. They are BRIGHT and with the butt-connectors that seal themselves with heat, make an excellent water tight connection. I would definetly reccommend them. :yay:

"L"ight "E"mitting "D"iode
You can not replace the individual diode that is burned out, the 8 LED light is a lesser expensive light. You can replace them with LED's with many more diode's I have seen them to 44 diode's but I am sure that there is a light with more available some where, but they are considerably more expensive up to 30.00 ea. the more Diode's the less noticeable the burn't out ones are.

I'd take the trailer back to where you bought it and get a warranty replacement. If you've only had the trailer 9 months it should still be under the factory warranty. Both the original lights on my 05 EZ loader filled up with water. Dealer replaced them, no questions asked. They told me I wasn't the first to come in with that particular problem.

AP...they are complete units...NR replaced a couple of mine at no charge...
I don't expect them to anymore, though...the incand. bulbs are just cheap...lot of vibration and temp changes back there.
Next time mine go, I am going to switch over to LEDs...

AP-
I have posted a few times about all the problems that I have had with my LED lights on my EZ Loader. Go out and look at them carefully. They are probably full of water. Obviously, they are supposed to be water tight.
EZ Loader knows they had a problem with some of the early LED lights and will replace them for free if you just go back to NR.
I've had to replace some of mine a couple times but haven't had any problems for a few months now.

After twice replacing the incandescent light units on my 1999 EZ Loader, (yes, I do unplug before launching) I picked up a set of LEDs at Potter Webster and REALLY like them. Much brighter = better safety.
Only problem I've had is the plug-in wires on the side marker lights tend to get dislodged, but I'm going to try some shrink tubing at the juncture to remedy that.

I always unplug my lights. I just don't get why three lights out of the bank of 8 would go out  I hate dragging the boat into Wilsonville in the middle of the season for that. I'll just wait until October when things are slow. Anyone know how long the warrenty is on those things :help:

you'd think led's wouldn't do that..
I have the normal water tight lights on my ez-loader never unplug them and have never had a problem.. (DANG IT!) as soon as I do, I will be getting led's.

I always hated the bulbs and was excited when that trailer had LED lights. SO much for the excitement. Looks as if you just trade one headache for another. At least with the bulbs, you could swap them out in about 30 seconds and they were cheap. What the heck do you do with the LED's when they fail :hoboy:

The manf of most of these LED lights usually has a 3 year warrenty on them, if they are leaking water send them back to dealer.
For those of you who added LED lights to your trailers You need to run a seperate ground wire to each light. the trailer causes resistance and will make you lights quit and then work intermittenly. Which was my case when I bought mine I talked to the Manf and they recommended the extra ground wire and it solved all my problems.
If they get water in them then either it's a manf defect or they got hit and cracked

I never needed an extra ground on mine.
I would think that the extra ground is due to some corrosion.

I guess I need to do a post on LED lights. I sell them along with alot of other stuff. The ones that I sell offer a full ten year warranty. If you have any problems with them like one little diode going out I - the manufacture will warranty replace the light over the counter. I cant tell you who I work for as I am not a registered with I-FISH. I can tell you that I am with a competitor of the above mentioned Potter Webster. If you buy a good one, and there are differances, it will be the last one you ever buy. I will get the digi cam out and do some work on this. I can take a new light off of the shelf and run it through the band saw and then plug it in and it still works. Give me a week and I will show you the difference.

How many of you guys take it real slow when backing the trailer into the water or pulling it out? The force of the water can be exterme on all the wiring connections and lights. I pull in and out of the water real slow. I learned this the hard way on my last boat trailer.

Hey TheDandyDuck...
Thank you for the info, I look forward to more info, including which LED's are most saltwater proof.

Drug the boat out of the barn and yep, the LED lights were full of water. I drilled a small hole on each of the lense covers to drain the water out. I figure if I just unplug the lights before launch and recovery, the water will drain out of the holes and I will at least have a couple of my lights in the light bank working until I can get her back to the dealer.

Almost Perfect,
LED's are heavily used in the trucking industry now. You can get them from a single diode to 56. You pay alot more for the 56 diode model especially if its oval rather than round of course. Most LED's sold have very good warranties such as lifetime, 10,000 hours 3 years etc. Most will warranty them if a single diode is burned out. Grote and Trucklite are a couple top of the line brands. Signalstat is Trucklites value line with a lesser warranty and cost but a good product also. There are also a few imports around like Maxima. They also have a pretty good warranty. The issue with them is if they are going to be around in the future to warranty them or not. I personally like the Trucklite diamond shell models. Cost a little more but worth it in the long run I think. They also have a very good water tight plug in to help with corrsion. Besides being brighter, LED's draw very little amperage and look cool also.
I dont know if yours are a captive light from Easyloader or not but you may have trouble getting warranty on them after drilling holes in them. I hope not. I replaced my bulb type lights with regular Trucklite sealed beams on my trailer about 10 years ago and have only replaced 1 marker light since then. I never unhook my plug when backing in either. They're sealed and shouldn't leak so unplugging your trailer isn't nessasary.
If they don't warranty them I would suggest converting them over to a grommet mounted oval or round LED if they are captive to Easyloader or oddballs. Like I said earlier the round ones are cheaper than the oval styles because they are much more popular.Hope this helps.

Great info... Thank you :applause:
I had to drill a hole in the lense cover just to get all the water out :hoboy: My right side was 3/4 full of water and my left side was about a 1/4 full. I was afraid that water just sitting in there would burn the rest of the lights out. I really do hope they still warrenty them.

I had the same problem on my 05 EZ Loader, and I called and they just mailed me new lights. Very easy install. Just called the main number off the internet site.

Is there a local place that I can get LED's to replace my Westbar lights? Someplace open until 8pm since I'm an hour out of the Portland area.
Took one of my lights apart yesterday and it's toast. Time to upgrade I guess.
Beaverton Auto Parts sells various kinds of LED lights. You might be able to find something there that would help you.
