I've got an '88 Evenrude 8HP I use for my drifter. There are no markings on the prop indicating the pitch. I'm looking to get a different pitch prop to get a little more top end speed. Any advice?

Thanks,

Honestly I'd be surprised if a pitch change would increase your top speed much. On a drift boat you're likely in a displacement situation instead of planing, so you may be limited by your hull speed and not by the kicker. (Similar to a kicker on a powerboat... it doesn't matter if your 8hp kicker is on a 15', 18', 21', or 25' boat, it'll still have the same top speed of around 6 mph.)

Can you tell by the sound or with a tach how many RPMs you're getting? If you're actually getting to redline RPMs then it's possible you could increase your pitch and have a higher top speed, but if it's just getting to mid-range RPMs then a prop change probably won't help.
