So awesome! I'm excited to see the finished product! It's looking VERY nice - so when are you going to start building custom bamboo rods for the rest of us iFish fly fishers?

You do very nice work. The colors of the winding look good with the bamboo and agate, even if they might be mistaken for Oregon State colors.

That is beautiful craftsmanship. I like.

The colors are really not Oregon State colors....just poor lighting that turned it more orange... The colors are Antique gold with Claret tips.. With varnish applied it darkens the initial color a great deal.. The true color is a medium amber.
Thanks for the kind words on my work.
Once completed (next week) we will post pics in natural light.

You ought to see some of Mike other rods :applause: The Martha Marie taper is a fantastic rod that he took to the event at Camp Sherman last weekend. Maybe we can post some pictures of that rod

the martha marie is my dream rod. i cast one that my rod making mentor built, and it is a dream rod! paul young really knew his stuff! what taper is this one stew? i built a 4 wt paul young perfectionist...antique gold wraps too! only i tipped them in black and you are clearly the better craftsman! if you ever want to get out and cast some cane on a river let me know.
John Montana,
I too live in Tualatin.... If you would like to get together send me a message and we can cast a few rods, Ibach park is close to me for some lawn casting.. I would be interested in casting your Perfectionist.... I was going to build one but decided on a Payne #100....
It was so nice that Stew bought it and has been having a great time with the SRC's on the coast.

Ryan,
That would have been alot of fun....However, I was interviewing for a job this afternoon and was unable to attend. If you would like to cast a few rods send me a message and possibly I could coordinate a casting get together for other ifish'ers that are interested in split bamboo....

i live right by ibach too mike...i'm just past the high school. we should head out and cast some cane. i've got three now, one that i built and two i picked up off of ebay. darn things are addictive? do you know dr. cane (that is his westfly handle.) he helped me build mine. we had a gathering at his place last year to cast rods that was a ton of fun. i'm game if you want to hit the park sometime to cast them. or we could run down to the pudding river and cast...i was dinking around there this afternoon with my daughter in a chest pack and lucked into five small smallmouth. kind of fun. let's hook up and throw some cane soon!
