Hello Experts~

I'm redoing the floors in my 78' Ensyne. The schmuck who owned it prior to me...and prior to him patched some holes in the floor by using car floor mats, duct tape, spray in flotation, home insulation fiberglass, you name it we found it.

Today is the day to lay the new floor in. We've done all the research on how thick, what kind of glass, resin, yada yada yada....but we haven't figured out what we want to coat it with.

I'd like the interior to have some grip when wet, therefore I was thinking the spray in bed liner stuff would be good. But, I've never asked this question before...so..what would you use??

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I can't offer you a float in return for your information. My brother in law will be my fishing partner for at least the next few years since he has helped me do all the work (killer shop )

I'd toss some sand onto the final coat.

Roll the area with colored gelcoat (I'm using white). Then, like Keta said, add some white masons sand.

You could use a 2 part epoxy paint...that is tuff stuff. Epoxy paint is used to paint concrete floors and will hold up well. The "sand" to use would be Silica sand. You can puchase it in different grit sizes, like 20 grit to 60 grit. You can purchase it at mason suppley stores. I use it at home on pool deck. I use as commercial sealer, sprinkle the sand on and back roll it with the paint roller. This way the sand gets trapped in the sealer/paint. Good luck and have fun with the project.

As was mention, that two part concrete paint would be good. A co-worker did his cockpit floor with that garrage floor paint that they sell at the building supply stores. He sprinkled in some reflective beads that the highway dept uses in center lines. Be sure to ge the stuff for exterior use

I used a 2 part paint with silica on my layout boat and man I think you could use the boat as a giant sanding block. worked well for me

Thanks for all the responses. I think I've got a plan. I love Ifish!! and it's members!!

Picked up the cloth, resin, hardner, roller, brushes, buckets, foam (for shaping the edges). I'm thinking let's do this thing...

Do you notice anything missing on my list??

My brother in law asked.........Where's the solvent?

It's 10pm at this point, everthing is cut ready to lay out. We are out in the sticks and getting solvent at that hour would be a good hour trip.

So, next wednesday we put the glass down, patch the bottom and hopefully "The Tub" will come home with me!!

Yeah, I know...it's been a while. But it will be worth it. Can't wait to row it. I'm guessing 20-30lbs lighter than it was before. Should be great. I am putting in all the time I can before #2 gets here.

Headed to the Rogue this weekend for that trip I talked to you about several months ago. Dad and I are going. Should be a fun time even if there aren't any fish around.
