I have owned my Min Kota Endcura 30 for five years now and it has performed flawlessly. My 25 Merc does not troll down as slow as I would like. If I rinse my Min Kota in fresh water after use will it operate alright in salt water? The electric trollers that are rated for salt are super spendy and I know there must be a reason. What say you?

I'm no expert, but on our first boat (if you can call a 7' pram a 'boat') and second boat (a 15' Gregor), we used something like an Endura 36# in tidewater and Tillamook Bay for five straight years. I might have washed it off, sometimes.

When I sold that boat there was just a little corrosion on the prop housing. The motor worked fine.

That's just my experience.

I too used my 36# minn kota in salt. Not many times though. When I'd get back home, I always stuck it in my utility tub and ran it in fresh water to rinse the salt off. It still works fine. I've sinced purchased the saltwater usable riptide. If you ever get the notion to purchase one, try cabelas or Ollie Damon's in Porltand. Both of those places will save you a lot of money on a minn Kota.

I have used mine in tidwater for 4 years and it is still going strong. I do rinse mine off with the hose but that is about it.
