We spent the last few days at Diamond Lake. Though the wind pretty much limited fishing to the morning hours, we did great at the south end of the lake. We drifted the 3' to 5' water and dropped black or dark green weighted wooly buggers into pockets in the weed beds, and caught 13" to 18" rainbows. Eventually the wind would drive us off the lake. By the way, late this season they will start lowering the lake level till it is eight feet lower than it is now, which will subtantially reduce the surface area. Next year they expect fishing to be REALLY good, as a result of the small lake, and at some point they will permit keeping as many as you can catch. Then they will net out what they can and poison the lake to start over without the tui chub.
