I learned a lesson this weekend while up at Odell...filled the boat on Sat.am and trolled using my kicker for about 3 or 4 hours so I barely used any gas, got back to camp and parked the boat. Well, I thought I had parked it in the shade, but guess not. About 2 pm my wife says she smells gas...Oh %&*#, the fuel fumes in my tank expanded and being so full it filled up the vent and was overflowing down the side of the boat..oh well, nothing harmed, but a lesson learned.

Fluids have amazing power when they heat. When the sun came out for a couple hours a few weeks ago a 10" diesel line where I work heated to the point where it blew apart at a joint and shot out a stream of fuel that dug a divot in the ground about 4" deep. The impressive part was that the joint was bolted together with twelve 7/8" dia bolts and it stretched every one of them by about an 1/8". :bigshock: And it wasn't even that warm out.

If I dont jack the nose of my boat up when I park it while its warm out gas will leak out the tank.Just jacking the nose up a bit gets the vent up higher so it will work to let the vapors out.Never have a problem if I remember to do that.
