Hey all, was wondering if anybody here has redone (or clean) their old glass boats whenever they peel off a sticker to find that the white underneath is more white ...how do you guys clean up your hull to brighten it up and make it look like new?

I found some products to use, but I don't know which is better...comments strongly accepted so don't be shy!

I'm curious also, I have an older '75 larson runabout that i've tried to wax before and it helped but didn't do a very good job. Let's hear you experts on this problem????

I am not an expert by any means but I just attempted to restore the color on my fiberglass P-14. I used a product from Turtle Wax. It is made for this with color added in. I think that the name is color restore. I got a white and a blue (since that is the color of my boat). Applied it with a orbital buffer and spent alot of time on the eye sores. Came out better than I expected. I got it a Schucks auto parts.

PS I put in three coats

Waxing without deep cleaning will not restore color. Use a high speed buffer (orbital buffers do not heat the surface up enough). Use a good polish/ buffing compound. Granitize is my preference. Do not generate too much heat or you will burn the gelcoat. You will be amazed at the results.

I did it commercially part time a few years back and never had an unsatisfied customer.

there was something immensely satisfying about bringing one of those fiberglas beauties back to life.
