Dont bother with Siltcoos, drive the extra hour to Tenmile. Fishing's red hot right now.
There's a motel on the lake in Lakeside, and quite a few along 101 near the lake.

Listen to the Ten Mile fans and skip Siltcoos. If you can only do one thing at Ten Mile, just pitch senkos at docks. After you catch a few fish, you'll start to be able to tell where on the docks they're holding. If you can skip senkos back under the docks, you'll sometimes pick up more fish than simply working the outer edges. Another time tested pattern is the good ole' white spinnerbait very early in the day. Beyond those two easier techniques, there are a multitude of jig, tube, and other tactics that work there. In any event, Siltcoos can be very humbling (i.e., not fun!) even though it has some big fish. Good luck wherever you go, and enjoy!

PS... I've made it to the ramp at TenMile in four hours from the I-205/I-84 Interchange pretty consistently. You'll hear some people tell you that they can get there faster, which is true, but you'd have to speed.

James,
Hit tenmile. I grew up there. The lake shore lodge isn't bad housing. There's decent camping at Osprey point. Bass aren't the only show in town though.
