We had a great time fishing the Crooked River over the holiday. I caught my first (and a few more) fish using a flyrod. I understand what color bug to use over the Memorial Day weekend on this river, but now I want to know what I can use during the rest of the year. Are there any good books/Web links/etc., that anyone would recommend that gives fly/color suggestions for specific times of the year on any local streams or lakes? Thanks for your suggestions :help:

One of the best I've found is Jim Schollmeyer's Hatch guide to western streams from amato publishing. It is pocket sized and I keep it in my vest. Excellent photos of the insect and then a few recommended flies. Also has info on the best places i.e. riffles, slow water, etc to fish them. The back of the book has a listing of all the flies shown with the materials needed to tie them. A huge amount of information in a little book. I give it two thumbs up.
