Howdy, I'm thinking of taking my Dad fly fishing for smallies on the John Day river for father's day. I've never been there and would appreciate any advice for a one maybe two day float(I have a drift boat). I have boat experience but would prefer an easy drift. What drift would you recommend? Fly patterns? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just got back. Poppers in white, red, or chartruse. Woolies and muddlers worked well too. You'd have to put in and 30 mile creek though if you want 2 days.
