I noticed that Powell has stopped their foolish " we only make Tiboron high end rods" approach and has re-introduced their advantage series. I own an Advantage 5 wt from about 5 yrs ago. Love it. I would have bought another one when I shopped my 7 wt, but they were only making the Tiborons then. Poor me, just when Winston intro'd their Ibis rods. Now I have two rods I love.
Has anyone cast a Powell since the AVS is back ? Are they as sensitive and responsive as earlier models. I wonder only because they are selling them today for the same prices as the period in which I bought mine. I sure hope so, it's a helluva rod at a good price.
BTW - They've also re-inro'd their bamboo series, but I can only dream about them. Personally I think I'll wait for the limited edition Stew made in Oregon series to be available :yay:

   I'll tell you what Wk you might be waiting a long time :bigshock: I am amazed at the amount of work involved in making a bamboo rod from basically scratch.
I am very fortunate to have a true cane rod craftsman who is guiding me through this
I have a Winston also that I really like alot :yay:

I bought an Advantage 8wt. 2 piece from Powell last year. They replaced them with the new XL and were selling the discontinued rods for $79.95 including a tube and shipping. It is a little slower action than I like, but is a decent enough rod... especially for eighty bucks. I am a bit skeptical of the 'wholesale pricing to the public' thing... does anyone really pay more for them at a retail outlet? Anyhow, I like it. lnf
