Well how did everyone do on the opening day? I do not get to get out fishing until tomorrow I have plans to go to the Upper Clack River and give it a run for the money. So how did everyone do today? Rp

I had to change my plans...I'll be heading up tomorrow. I don't want to crowd you RP, so I may be heading up to another stream up by Mt. Hood.

I managed to get out for a few hours Saturday morning. I caught one trout (smolt?).
I also hooked one summer run steelhead. I hooked the fish on the swing using a Red Butt Skunk. It jumped once and threw the hook. I was unprepared for the strike and completely blew it!

Spent the day lost at a lake that is. Ended up floated the perimeter of lost lake only to find that just one third was productive. My legs hate life right now. As for the fish they were for the most part all hatchery kids that would take anything yellow that floated. Even a salmon fly. Of course another obstacle was the beer chucking baiters, if I never hear a drunk voice call out “Fish on” from across the lake again it will be to soon.
Thinking of hitting Laurence or Trillium tomorrow evening that is if my legs will let me.
PS if any of you baiters happen to read this, next time, please feel free to toss me a bridge port IPA and keep the Bush light for yourself.

For most of the bankies you will be lucky if they toss you a PBR. Rp

I caught a small wild rainbows, but did manage to land a 16" trout up on a creek near Mt. Hood. It was the biggest I have seen in any of the surrounding rivers.

There is not much in this world I would give up a day of flyfishing for, but this happens to be one of them...

My son has already had more fishing dates in his four and a half years than I had of any kind of date in all of high school.:hoboy: The wind was blowing and the mist was heavy today at the Coast, but we had to bribe them with hot cocoa to go back to the cottage. Even then, when I asked Lucio if he was ready to go he said, "yeah, sure, as soon as we each catch a fish". Hmmm, wonder where he gets that from. Sorry mods for the nonflyfishphoto... seemed like a slow news day. lnf
