My brother in law and I are looking to float a lake this Saturday and we are trying to decide between Clear lake and Lost lake.

Any one been to either recently? Or have an opinion either way?

I don't know what experience you are looking for.

Clear lake would be a good prospect for catching some nice trout. ( Mayflies, Callibeatis Nymphs etc. ).

However: The lake is low.

I love fishing that lake but the slobs are out.

Beer cans and all kinds of garbarge.

Idiots taking home limits of fish.

Idiots shooting near the lake.

Sort of ruins the Abiants if you know what I mean.

Plus: the wind will be calm and the nasty little black bugs will be in your face. Use a net to cover yourself.

Or take your chances at Lost lake.

Or

Consider Timothy, Larwence etc.

Good luck I hope this helps.

But Clear lake does have some monsters in it.

FYI Clear Lake dried up last year except for about 4' of water near a channel in the dam. I doubt many fish held over through the winter. :hoboy: Its pretty sad but that is what that lake was designed for... irrigation reserves.

You know Oregon could have THE best trout fishing in the country if the ODFW would manage the resource right.

Thanks for the advice. The one thing I want more then catching a hog is not having to deal with the drunken neck car crowd. “Lookie hear Cleatis that there is one of them round floating deer, quick shoot it before it gets away”.

I am however looking to get into some big fish not to far (less then say an hour) away from the Welches area. What is my best bet?

Thanks

Go to Timothy Brian. You will have much better luck. And you should be careful with the red neck slander seeing how you live in Welches now. I guess your Range Rover isn't jacked up on 50" tires though....yet. :jester: Take Peter and go to Timothy and you should do well. I don'think that it has had too much presure yet, but remember that it is Memorial Day weekend. You'll get presure where ever you go! Good luck and :smash: some fish.

Meskel, welcome to the Mountain! I myself am going to hit one of your other options Thursday afternoon with a couple of 'toonin buddies. Will post the evidence.
