I made it up to Merrill Lake today despite the weather. There were 3 other people there besides me and I think the rain might have had something to do with it. There were a few fish showing up on top but not alot of action. It took me a while to find something that would get any takes. I ended up catching 3 nice cutthroat and 1 real nice brown. I caught 2 using a phesant tail and 2 trolling a wooly bugger with a sink tip. As I was rowing back to the launch around 8 PM there was more action on top but they were slurping something on the surface film. I didn't stick around to see what it was. All in all action was real slow, I think the warm weather that is coming might get things started. The water was still very high. If anyone would be interested in going sometime PM me and we can set something up. I'm off work for the next 3 weeks.

I was up there saturday, pretty much the same results as stonefly guy, without the browns..
I did however stumble across a little "spot" that was real productive for me for about 35 minutes... I was getting bit almost every cast... caught about 4 in 35 minutes (full sink line, quick strips, green wooly bugger, pt dropper all the fish hit the bugger....
than the rain hit...
I am there alot, and if you ever see a guy paddling around in a red kayak, thats me!
also, I already encounterred a guy and his daughter fishing with worms at the launch... I have a feeling there is going to be alot of that this year...
the hex should be good this summer....

I fished both ends of the lake. I have my favorite spots that always hold fish dependinfg on the time of year but I fish all arouond. I was in my drift boat Brocam. I am going to tie up some crane fly larva and some cripples and see what happens, hint, hint.
