In the past, there have been times when I'd run a nymph through some water on the Big D during the salmon fly hatch, using the poly yarn strike indicators. I've had fish hit the strike indicators many time. So, last year I decided to tie up some indicators in a pseudo-salmon fly pattern on a hook. Here's what it looks like. It might be interesting hooking a fish on this thing. :bigshock:

That is a good technique anytime. There is a foam salmon fly imitation featured in the Spring issue of Flyfishing and Tying Journal that would also work.
When the caddis are hatching I like to tie an unweighted emerger pattern underneath an Elk Hair caddis.
I even had a winter steelhead chase a strike indicator this year.
