May still be a little early, but I'm thinking of the salmonfly hatch. It's a good day for me to take off. let me know if any of you care to join me.
cheers,

wednesday would be better, but tuesday might work...what time will we leave, and who's driving?
I will split the gas, or I can drive...I have a rendezvous, so I can seat 5.

I would love to go, I have never fished it. I have a drift boat and could take a couple of people with me. I'm from Washington so I would have to get a three day licence or something. Tuesday isn't the best day for me either but any other day would work. If you do take a boat, don't you have to get some kind of pass?

I'm a definite maybe! It'll give me a good excuse to get the rainwater out of the drifter...
Might want to think about hitting one of the lower sections. The bugs are kind of late with all the rainy cool weather. It's supposed to warm up a bit this weekend so that might make a difference, but it usually takes a week or so for the fish to turn on to the big bugs.

How and where would I get a float permit or do I even need one. Does anyone know how much a temp licence is? Does Oregon have a 1,2, or 3 day licence? I would need to know more details like where we would meet and what time. If I'm not able to go on Tues would anyone be able to go any other day in the week? I'm a divorced father and usualy get my boy's on tuesday.

stoneflyguy, any Oregon GI Joes sells boaters passes and yes you do need one if floating on the Deschutes, if you are driving over from Portland the Welches fly shops sell them also.A boaters pass costs $2.00 per day midweek plus vendors fee. A one day fishing licence costs $12.00, a two day licence costs $22.50 and a three day license costs $33.00.
If you are looking for Salmon fly action go to the Maupin area as they are out in force and with the weather warming up the trout should key on them, good luck, tight lines, brian

I wish I could do it, but I'm pretty overloaded at work this week, plus I think I've caught that flu bug thats been going around.
It should be great fishing with the sun finally coming out and the temps heating up.
Maybe I will feel better and get my workload under control by tomorrow night to swing this trip, but i doubt it :depressed:

I would love to go but it looks like Tues. will not work for me either, the X just doesn't want to switch days for me. I would love to go some other time. I can look into getting a float pass and a day licence. If anyone would like to try some other time, let me know and we can make plans. I have a 15' drifter that will seat two besides me and would need someone to go who knows the river. Drop me a PM and let's go.

My apologies up front for any etiquette errors I make as I am more of a lake guy. I have read the posts on etiquette but there are sooo many of them I may forget one or two.

So let's get a head count of who can go tomorrow.
I can drive and take a few. If we do boat, I even have and extra toon somebody can borrow. Banking it is fine with me too.
