Just a couple of pictures today as pretty much the roughing the sections out to about .050 above final diamension. I really got to hand it to my friend Mike, who is taking me through this process. He has a load of patience with my ignorance and he is a true craftsman in bamboo rod building

The rough diamension sections tied up to keep them straight

Ok this is cool before long you will be able to catch some cutts on the dry fly with your bamboo rod. Wow I am still jealous. rp

Stew, keep the pics and updates coming. As a former saddlemaker it is always pleasing for me to see the crafts passed on. A bamboo caster that you had a hand in making ! It just doesn't get much better. Well maybe a cutthroat pig slamming an elk hair caddis so hard it makes you wonder if that tippet is going to hold during the maiden trip for your new rod :bigshock:.

Thanks again, good stuff

My pleasure Steve
The fellow helping me with this rod is a true craftsman and I'm lucky to be able to work with him.
When it comes down to the hard stuff like twists and anything real technical then I rely on him to show me the proper way of doing things.
There is truly nothing nicer in fly fishing than casting a cane rod :hearton:
