I just bought a new boat(love it). But i have a question my windshield leaks and i dont want to look like a hard to please costumer are they suppose to be water tight i know that they look as if they should be but with my top up and raining i have a leak in the lower corner between the glass and rubber seal and gets everything wet in the cubby in the console. i have never had had a boat nice enough to have a windshield so i dont know how water tight things should be. since i have bought the boat it has rained every weekend and since i live in oregon expect more rainy trips so i would like to know if i should fix it or take it back to the dealer?

How to fix it depends on the type of windshield it is ? If it where mine I would take it back to the dealer and ask them if they can fix it :help:. They should fix it and you will be on your way. If it is plate glass with a rubber gasket all the way around it's a easy fix. Give them a call ! You won't be the first warranty customer they have ever had.

I am sure there is an endless line of those here that think taking it back to the dealer is the ticket. :hoboy:

If it is easier to just seal it yourself, I do it myself.

I just sealed the 3rd of my 3 front windows on my boat, they have all decided they want to leak. I removed the window and the rubber, a shot of silicone between the boat and the rubber, and between the rubber and the window and the leak has been stopped. It took me approx 15 minutes to seal the window, which was much easier and quicker than going to the dealer/manuf.

If its anything like my boat, the glass guy screwed up. They positioned the seam of the rubber seal at the top ceter and allows water to seep through the 16th inch gap they left. A solution is to pump automotive winsheild sealant around the seal. This can be messy, so run some automotive refinishing tape(3M) around your glass. This will make the clean up much easier. The windsheild sealant is a 3M product, that can be found in any autobody supply house.

thank you guys for the responses i will get the silicone out and see what i can come up with i just was worried that if i fixed it and had a issue later with the boat(probley never happen but) that it could lead to bigger problems iam used to dealing with car dealers not boat dealers the attitude if you change your own oil and do you own mantaince thay dont feel they should warranty any problems you have. thanks again

Why dont you give the dealer a call and tell him the problem and say your willing to repair it but if it doesnt work would there be warranty issues.Document the call.It sucks taking off work and all to take the boat in when you could do it yourself.Im in the fix it myself group and Ive never had any warranty issues.
