My brother and I took our pontoon boats down to Selmac this weekend after real big bass. We fished saturday afternoon and all day sunday. I landed 35 LM and my brother got 26. No monsters though. I hooked a big one but lost him in the trees. We saw alot of big fish on beds but tried not to pester them to much. I caught quite a few fish on a bigger floating rapala in a rainbow trout finish. The crappie and blue gill fishing is amazing down there right now. We had a ball and caught alot of big slabs using small top water plugs. The trout fishing was also good we caught three while fishing for bass but most people fishing for trout were easily getting limits. We relased all our fish except the seven crappie we ate saturday night. It was our first time to Selmac, and I plan on going back.

Do the crappie and bluegill have any size to them? I considered trying that lake this last week but it's far from home.

Selmac is in southern Oregon down by Grants Pass. I think it is off the road that goes to the Oregon Caves.

Close but no cigar, bucketmouth. About 20 miles sw of Grants Pass, off Hwy. 199. go thru Selma about 1/2 mile, then left at the intersection. Lots of signs. Nice camping. Buddy got some crappies there a few days ago. Think I'll try it when the rain quits 'cause the Rogue is blown out big time!!

Yes the crappie we caught were very nice size. We were catching them on bass lures so we mainly caught the bigger ones guttsy enough to bite the bigger lures. The people using worms and jigs were getting a mixed bag of big and little. The lake is a pretty good dirve from home but I had a great time and I thout it was worth it.

I was down at Selmac last week while on duty in Grants Pass(one of the fringe bene's of the military). I caught one Crappie that was about 1 1/2 LBs and a couple of LM bass around 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 LBs(12 in all). The fishing was great, hit after hit :smash:. I was using watermelon curltail plastics, thats all I could throw at them with any luck. They weren't hitting anything else I threw at them.
The lady that runs the resort at Selmac said that the Crappie and Bass that she has seen have been some of the biggest she has seen in years . Sounds to me that if you want to go to Selmac, this would be the year.
Great place if you can get down there
