We have a 17ft Montauk with two batteries in the stern with a Perco switch in between. We want to move them midships for better weight distribution and more room in the stern. In doing a little research on the web I found referrence to adding a Battery Integrator to the battery circut. My question is two fold; is the integrator worth the $90.00 and what purpose does the Perco switch serve once the integrator is in the circut. I don't have a huge amount of experience with this stuff, but think I can probably get it done. I would appreciate any pearls of wisdom though, suggestions, wiring diagrams, etc. My biggest quandry is what kind of wire do I run back to the outboard from the battery switch that will now be on the center console? #2 battery cable to a junction box in the stern then smaller wire to the alternator and starter?
Again, any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks,
Jean

I would seriously consider using boat cable rated wire if you are going to do this project. Tinned wire is the only wire to use on a boat that is going to see saltwater. It should be UL 1426 rated.

I would keep the battery switch. The integrator is a solid state device and will take a small amount of current. If you store the boat for a period it could drain the battery down. Having away of having a positive off on your batteries is a good thing.
