Im going to be heading down to the prineville reservoir next weekend and i was just wondering if somebody could give me a couple good places and techniques to fish there.
Never fished it, but I'll tell you a little about how I do it (on a new lake). This time of year I start by pitching road runners in coves and off points till I hit a fish or two, then I use tube jigs or twist tails to vertical jig them. If I can pin point a school, so much the better. I always sweeten the pot with a crappie nibble.
Good luck!

Im assuming you have a boat.
I am no crappie expert, but the last few times i have been there i caught a mess of crappie. I was up in the arm where you cant go over 5mph, i forget which arm it is called.
We just anchored up out side the weed beds/cat tail things, and threw out crappie jugs under a bobber. Yellow and green and green and white seemd to work the best. you can fill up a 5 gallon bucket pretty quick when you find them.
If you fish for 10 min and dont catch a few, move to a new spot.

From what I've seen Prineville is a great fishing lake, but... the crappie are numerous but REALLY dinky. I haven't fished it the last couple of years so hopefully things have changed. As you may know, the trout can be good size.

Tie up to the log booms at the boat docks , that is normally good . There should be lots of boats to watch out in the main resivoir and see if they are catching any . Talk to the people at the fish cleaning station .

hey hr, I onced had a Valco 14ft with an 18 hp Johnson. It was a great set up. Allowed me to get on just about any body of water I wanted to fish. I loved that boat. It got stolen from me at Craine Prairie.
