I have a 1983 26ft fiberform with a 350ci motor and a quadrajet carb, when I first start it up it takes about 20 min to get it where it wont flood on me, I can keep it on hi idle and be fine but as soon as I put it in idle it dies and wont start back up for awhile. The carb was just rebuilt so I am thinking of doing some adjustments to the idle mixture screws to see if that helps, Any suggestions on the best way to do that would be great, or anything else you guys think of that I can try.
thank you in advance

It sounds like your choke is not operating properly. Its been a while since Ive tinkered with a quadrajet but with the info you gave thats my first guess.

on the choke the butterfly should be open, right?

Stone cold it should be closed, then it will open 1/4 tp 3/8 of an inch upon starting then it will open all the way with in a few minutes

This is definitely how it should be if the choke is adjusted properly and the choke thermostat and choke pull-off are good. As it warms up the choke opens.
The rebuild should also have included a new float. Preferably a brass replacement. Check the invoice for the rebuild and see if the parts bill includes a new float. If not I would take it back and have a new float put in it.
The OE floats are nitrile foam and they don't hold up well under today's gas additives, and as a result, don't live up to their name!
Hope that helps.
