Last fall I looked at a sled with a 115hp Mercury outboard
pump combo that had aluminum "wings" on the sides of the pump shoe. They extended about 2in. out from the shoe to the side and ran I believe the full length of the shoe.
The guy that owned the sled said that they helped alot as far as getting out of the hole quickly.I can't remember who or where it was that he got them from, has anyone else seen these out there? Or have you had experience with them?
Thanks
Bill

There are a few things you can do the foot of an outboard pump to give them a little help. I made a set of wings that were simalar to one in the picture. They didnt last long enough to tell if they made much of a difference. I did do a couple other things to the foot that helps it load the impellar a little better.

Try www.jeteze.com (http://www.jeteze.com), also rockproof boats makes a uhmw shoe that is supposedly indestructible, think they make the fins as well www.rockproofboats.com (http://www.rockproofboats.com)

Tne wings tend to work best on Woolridge boats because of their tunnel designed hull. Note in the photo that the wings extend downward no further than the hull. Woolridge has a patent or something like that on their hull design and if you have ridden in one, it works very good.

Thanks for the info, the boat that I saw these "wings" on was a Duckworth and they bolted on.I was hoping to find some on the sheff somewhere.
Thanks

If you want to enhance the performance, Woolridge markets a stainless steel impeller. It replaces the aluminum unit normally used with an outboard jet. It does make a difference.

My outboard pump has the side wings on the pump plus a stainless steel impeller. It deffinaltly makes a big difference. my motor is a 200 hp.
