BROWNLEE REPORT 4-23 to 4-30

Spent a week at Brownlee by the graveyard, started out a little slow, the crappie were scattered at first, but started to school-up by weeks end, caught most with mini jigs, & twister tails with bobbers, but small repallas trolled slow at 8' to 15' deep also worked well, caught several bass, & catfish also on the repallas, & 1 2lb bluegill. The weather was nice mostly in the 70's, with only a couple of days under 70, got rained on only once Tuesday night between 6, & 8 pm, & the wind only blew heavy once Wed night thru Thur afternoon, The water temp is warming up 56 to 58 deg, & the crappie are starting to move into thair spanning beds, the bass fishing was excellent the last two days, & the catfish were starting to get active, picked up a few each night & early morning using crappie guts, all in all it was great trip, not as good as the last couple years, but we had a great time, now its time to get serious with Halibut/Salmon/& Tuna out in the big blue, Brownlee is my only relaxing vacation all year. :dance:

Great report thank you very much, I take the kids the last week in may and it's always the best trip of the year because it's with my daughters.

[Crappie Chaser]

It's still pretty slow for crappie up here out of the Powder.Have to fish pretty hard for 25 fish and some days a dozen.Yesterday all the fish we caught were smaller males that still had their milt.Do they prepare the nest? Water is warming, everything seems right so maybe any day now. Really good bass fishing now and cats are starting.Good to hear of good fishing upriver,we won't be far behind.

Hey 42, when I go up this year I too am taking the daughters. Looking forward to it.

I too took my daughter, she is quite a fishergirl, can fish all day with the boys, as long as its not the ocean(she gets sea sick), she caught the two biggest crappie 13 1/2",
& 14", often she catches the biggest fish(s), my wife also was with us, she can also fish all day, as long as the fish
are bitting, & her back holds up(she has had three back surgeries), my daughter brought a friend with her who is not a fishergirl, she was bored most of the week, I guess she won't want to go next time(you really need to like fishing to spend a week at Brownlee), I won,t be going next year, since were are planning a Southwest vacation next year, Grand Canyon, Arches national monument & whatever else
looks good on the map, but plan on another end of April trip to Brownlee in 07, anyway GOOD LUCK fishing, & most of all HAVE FUN :yay: :dance: :wave:
