Its on !! The crappie have moved up. Caught quite a few with some being up in the back of the creek arms and also along the steep banks in approx 10 ft of water. Lots of boats out yesterday and seemed like most were getting into some. We fished the upper end of the lake around Mountain Man lodge. Were close to an older couple who just could not buy a fish. Hooked them up with a few Chartruse jigs and what was left of a jar of crappie nibbles and BANG !!! They were in them also. Most crappie were good size with a couple that were around 14 inches. Also caught some small ones which was good because we have not seen very many little guys. Also caught a couple cat fish and a trout on crappie jigs ( The trout was about 19 inches long) along with a handfull of smallies ( those were in deeper water it seemed). Lots of folks on the water.

The catfish hit the crappie jigs. Always a brief moment when you think you have a toad smallie on the line.. then the steady bulldog of a catfish snaps you out of it. Not real big ones, maybe 3-4 lbs. Gonna eat them tonight.

Used to fish Clear Lake all the time when I was a kid. There are a lot of big crappie in that lake. :yay: :yay: The real "sleeper" is Conn Dam out of Napa. I caught some monster crappie there. You could see them when you fished the high steep banks...it was awesome.  Need to go back there some day. :smash: :smash:

My brother down in San Diego, rutinely catches 3+ lb crappie
in the area lakes, but not this year, the drought has taken its toll, allthough the lakes are full, or near full this year, it usually takes two to three years for the lakes to replenish themselves.
